At Riverside Skin & Laser Clinic, we provide mole mapping & dermatologist mole checking services. We say moles, but it can be for any lesion, lump or bump. Signs of skin cancer can sometimes very subtle and commonly missed, so it's best to get your skin checked regularly, especially if you are at higher risk.

Mole mapping - a comprehensive head to toe scan of your skin. Every mole and lesion is identified, analysed and categorised on type and risk. The scan and initial reports are performed by our senior nurses. All reports are reviewed by our dermatologists for approval and risk assessment.

Mole Checks with Dr Fatima Awdeh - if you have one, or several moles of concern, this may be a more suitable option. Here, you meet with our clinic owner & dermatologist, where your moles will be checked with the dermatoscope, to better assess the risk they may pose. Dr Awdeh will be able to advise you immediately, as to whether any risk is present and next steps, if necessary.

Dr Fatima Awdeh, (MBBS, MRCP UK (London), MRCP (Derm)) is a Consultant Dermatologist working both for the NHS and privately in Chelmsford.

She is passionate about skin and the connection between skin and health. She has recently opened the beautiful minor ops clinic next door to our aesthetics department, where you will be able to see her for any health related skin concerns.

what is mole mapping?

Mole mapping is a dermatological procedure that uses full-body and close-up imaging to monitor moles and detect early signs of skin cancer, especially melanoma. It's particularly useful for people at high risk, helping track changes over time and reduce unnecessary biopsies.

how it works?

You come in for you first mole mapping session with us - one of our trained, clinical nurses will perform a meticulous analysis of your entire body using our state of the art photos scanner, and dermatoscope.
Review and report on the scan results by Dr Fatima within 1-2 weeks. Her report will
include advice on whether she needs to see you face to face or when you should
book in for another scan. If there is nothing of concern, amazing! We recommend you come in annually as a minimum, for a comparison scan to ensure we capture any new or changes to existing moles. We have a variety of monthly subscription options available, to help you spread the cost of your scans - whether you need 1, 2 or 3 scans a year. If any lesions of concern are discovered, we will arrange a follow up with our consultant dermatologist, at no extra cost, to plan out its removal.
For lesions of concern, a face to face with Dr Fatima will be arranged to discuss moles and lesions of concern and the next advisable steps.
